When looking to outsource your business’s digital marketing to a digital marketing agency it is important to meet with that company and see if your beliefs, strategies, style, and goals.
A digital marketing agency should speak to your audience as if it were you speaking to your audience. In other words, in your target audience’s eyes, it shouldn’t even look like you have a digital marketing agency marketing for you.


Discovering the VIBE:


What should you look for in a digital marketing agency that will guarantee your VIBE?


  • Meet with them face-to-face (even if it is via Zoom or FaceTime). It is important to see how they speak (do they sound knowledgeable) and how the conversation flows (do you feel like they are understanding of your needs). This company will be your voice to your target audience.
  • Look at their website (they most likely designed and built their own website). Does it look professional, inviting, again knowledgeable, and even similar to your style?
  • Look at their past work. If they don’t have an easily accessible area to look at past work ask to see some. Are they able to create a wide variety of designs/strategies or does it all look the same?
  • Do they have contracts that guarantee services and return of your property in the event of cancellation? It is important to ensure that the digital marketing agency you decide to use has verifiable contracts and agreements to guarantee you are getting what you paid for. Ask to see a contract prior to commitment. Transparency is key.
  • Non-compete- Does the digital marketing agency offer a non-compete and promise not to take on any businesses within the same field in your area? If they don't, they may take on a competitor of yours while marketing for you.
  • Does the agency offer a wide range of services? This isn’t always a deal breaker, but if the agency offers multiple services, they are more likely to understand how all of those individual pieces work together in the grand scheme of things.
  • How does the agency run their own business? Do they have a social presence? It is important to ensure that the digital marketing agency is practicing what they preach and that they are successful at it. If they are successful in their own field, they will help you to be successful.
  • Does the agency niche in one industry or do they market for a wide range of businesses? There can be pros and cons to both of these. For instance, if an agency niches in one industry, they will know it inside and out. But, if an agency offers marketing to a wide range of industries, they could have the knowledge to help any business soar. This is up to the businesses preference. 
  • LOOK at reviews! This is the most important thing. Look at the agency’s Google, Facebook, and Yelp reviews. If they don’t have any, this may be a cause for concern (not always if they are starting up) as any digital marketing agency knows that reviews are key in any successful digital marketing. How did other businesses like working with the agency? 
  • Does the agency have core values? Do those core values align with your core values? Core values are important for any business. If your core values align, you are more likely to have a VIBING relationship.


The whole reason you may be outsourcing your digital marketing could be due to time and knowledge. You must be able to fully trust your digital marketing agency to do what they do best which is why it is important to ensure that you VIBE with them.
